In early June, Lisa and I paid a visit to the Kerrville Folk Festival where we met and heard a tall pile of wonderful singer songwriters, I had the pleasure of sitting in with Ray Wiley Hubbard and Michael Hearne and had a big hoot teaching harmonica with Rob Roy Parnell and Michael Rubin. We wrapped up the week giving the Texans a taste of what we do out here in the West, with a stellar performance by Norton & Friends that had kerrverts. kerraddicts and kerrmudgeons alike, up on their feet. What an amazing festival!! I look forward to returning, and urge any budding singer songwriters to attend whenever you get a chance!!!! Over the past few months I've been adding my harmonica and vocals on a whole slew of recordings. These projects include The Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, my old Commander Cody Bandmate and Telecaster Master, Bill Kirchen.Reidar Larsen, (from Norway), Dann Rogers (I recorded on one of Dann's releases back in the 70s) and many more. I've also been wrapping up the recordings on my upcoming CD with Slack Key Guitar Master, George Kahumoku Jr and have also been recording and producing a Paradise, CA gem, Joe Zabelski. Joe is a fabulous pianist who we met at our church and at 87 years, has a beautiful and soulful touch on the piano and a repertoire that is immense ... I am capturing the beauty of this so that all may hear. ... There is just so much to do, and so little time! On Saturday June 20, I will be in Chicago to perform with my great friend Elvin Bishop on Prairie Home Companion, live from Rivinia. I am honored that Elvin asked me to join him for this wonderful show. I'm just about ready to head out on the road with The Steve Miller Band. We'll be touring throughout July and August then again in October and November. Steve has finally finished up work on the recordings that we started last year and the tracks sound fantastic! Be on the lookout for that to release!!. I look forward to getting back out and doing that rock and roll thing with Stevie Guitar Miller for what is now my 33rd year of touring as a member of his band!!!
